Al Whitmoor-Pryer: Don’t limit what God can do through you and your business
For Kingdom Biz founder Al Whitmoor-Pryer, business and faith have never belonged in separate boxes. Over decades of building companies, experiencing success and navigating some costly failures, he has learnt that following God in business often means being willing to think beyond what feels comfortable or immediately possible.
That doesn’t mean taking reckless risks. Al describes himself as someone who takes calculated risks. But he also believes there should be room in our plans for God to do something beyond what we could accomplish entirely through our own resources.
“I want to do something so crazy big that unless God comes in, we’re going to fail.”
It is a challenge not simply to dream bigger, but to think differently about success, failure and money itself. What if a setback becomes an opportunity to learn rather than the end of the story? What if money is something God entrusts to us not simply to accumulate, but to use well and give well? And what if our businesses can become part of bringing transformation to the places where God has put us?
In this short message from his opening address at Rediscover Business 2025, Al shares some of the thinking that has shaped his own journey in business and the heart behind Kingdom Biz.

Business and faith belong together
I founded the Kingdom Business Academy and Kingdom Biz nearly 25 years ago. We’ve spoken in many nations of the world and trained many people in business.
I really believe the Church is missing out on so much because business and Church need to work together. We need to come to a point where we understand that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
I love business. I’ve made a lot and I’ve lost a lot. Together with my wonderful wife, Heather, we’ve built different companies and we have a number of companies today. I’m a serial entrepreneur and we’ve had to face different challenges along the way.
The life we’re living is composed of the choices we make, constructed by the words we speak and affected by the people we allow to speak into our lives. So often, you can let the wrong people speak into your life and they can speak too small. But if you let God speak into your life, He can speak just right.
Turn information into revelation
I believe faith is never faith until we start to act on it. We talk about faith in our churches, but so often we can miss the full potential of what God has for us.
There’s an example I use, and Heather has heard it so many times, but I believe it’s true. For many pastors and business leaders, their spirits have rolled over and gone to sleep because they’ve allowed the wrong information to come in.
I don’t want us just to have information. I want us to take that information and turn it into revelation.
Sometimes your spirit has rolled over and gone to sleep and all you need is that word that says, “Wake up right now. You can do this in Jesus’ name.”
Live well and give well
We’ve also got to change some of our understanding around finance. We can have this attitude of, “Don’t talk about money.”
I really believe money comes to you to go through you. We need to get to a point where we start to flow. We live well and we give well, and through that we can help transform cities, our churches and our businesses.
I love it when I meet business people who come to me and say, “I failed.”
I say, “Really? So what did you do?”
“I started again.”
Great.
“And then I failed again.”
Welcome to the club.
I’ve failed many times and I’ve taken calculated risks. I don’t just take risks. I take calculated risks.
Make room for God to do something bigger
Sometimes I do a deal and think, “Lord, this is crazy.”
I’ve had something that I’ve lived with in my life. I’ve said, “I want to do something so crazy big that unless God comes in, we’re going to fail.”
And I’ve done that. We’ve experienced moments in business where God has come in and done something incredible. But I don’t believe that is something reserved for a handful of people.
So I encourage you to really look at who you truly are. Don’t limit yourself. If you limit yourself, you’re going to limit God. And if you limit God, you’re going to limit yourself.
We need to get to a point where we understand who God says we are. We’re not serving a bankrupt Heaven. We’re serving the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
A few things I’ve learnt
Just to give you a few tips. Heather and I, when we’d lost a great deal of money, just turned around and said, “This is the most expensive training session we’ve ever been on.”
Sometimes you’ve got to change the way you look at things. You can look at something as a failure, or you can ask, “What have I learnt from this?”
And I love what Rev Mark Pugh was saying about Abraham looking at the stars.
If some of you are saying, “I’ve got nothing,” God took nothing and He created the universe. So what can He do with your nothing?

Read more of Al Whitmoor-Pryer’s remarkable story
Al Whitmoor-Pryer has the most extraordinary testimony… for those who want to find out more about what God has done in his life. He grew up on a tough Taunton council estate with a stutter so severe he struggled to hold a conversation. Yet, he went on to build a care business worth millions and retire at 45 with Heather in the Canadian Rockies.
However they moved to Australia and lost everything. Al and Heather eventually arrived back in Britain with two suitcases and had to start again. What happened next took Al from the dole queue in Exeter to building businesses that are transforming the lives of people others had given up on. He shared the full story at CTN Southwest in Exeter in June 2026. It’s a remarkable testimony of business, failure and what can happen when you refuse to believe God is finished with your story. If you only read one business testimony this year, make it this one. Read Al Whitmoor-Pryer’s full testimony at CTN Southwest
